TB Program

 
 

The Davis County Tuberculosis (TB) Control program is dedicated to the prevention, control, and elimination of TB disease and the identification and treatment of latent TB infection.

Latent TB Infection (LTBI):  Condition in which inactive TB bacteria are present in an individual, without causing disease.  Infected individuals usually have a positive skin test, do not have symptoms, and are not contagious.

Tuberculosis Disease:  Condition in which the TB bacteria are active and present within an individual, causing symptoms and illness.

Symptoms of TB:

  • Productive, prolonged cough (> 3 weeks)
  • Coughing up blood
  • Fever
  • Chills
  • Night sweats
  • Weight loss
  • Fatigue

  • Case/Contact Investigations
  • Medication Therapy
  • TB Screening
  • Extensive Case Management
  • Counseling and Education
