Disposal
To properly dispose of asbestos please contact a certified asbestos abatement contractor or the Air
Quality Bureau staff. Friable asbestos must be properly identified, wetted and containerized prior
to transport. Abatement contractors can be found in the yellow pages of your phone book.
Analysis
There are environmental laboratories along the Wasatch Front that do bulk sampling analysis for the
presence of asbestos in construction or other manufactured materials. Davis County Health
Department’s Environmental Health Services Division staff can assist you and your questions regarding
analysis of possible asbestos containing materials.
Assessment
There are buildings in the county that require demolition or major renovation. Both federal and
state laws require an asbestos inspection be carried out prior to these activities. An assessment
by personnel from this office determines the level of risk from asbestos exposure associated with
a building or other structure.
