The Environmental Health Services Division receives a large number of complaints regarding
housing issues. The Davis County Health Department enforces the
Utah Fit Premises Act. If you are having difficulties with your rental property, please try to remedy the problems by contacting your manager or by using this Act and the specific duties and responsibilities that are included. If you cannot resolve the issues, call our office for assistance.
Mold
Mold has become a common complaint throughout the county and nation. In most instances,
mold problems can be alleviated by finding and stopping the cause of moisture and then
cleaning the effected area with a common disinfectant (Lysol, bleach water, etc.). It is
common to have small mold growth in areas with high humidity such as bathrooms, showers/baths,
and kitchens.
More information regarding mold can be found at the
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
and
Environmental Protection Agency
websites.
Methamphetamine Labs
Beginning in 2006, the Utah Legislature made it mandatory for law enforcement to report all meth labs to the local health departments. The Davis County Health Department Environmental Health Services Division maintains a list of contaminated sites, cleanup companies, and oversees any cleanup of these properties. If you suspect a property had a meth lab or users, please call the staff at (801) 525-5100 with any questions. We also recommend talking with the local authorities with enforcement questions concerning the property.
