Job Description
General Purpose
Under close supervision of an administrative supervisor, performs unskilled and semi-skilled work in maintaining County facilities and grounds.

Example of Duties:
(Any one position does not include all of the duties listed; nor do the listed examples include all duties which may be found in positions of this class). Performs basic landscape maintenance including soil preparation, planting, weeding, mowing, and trimming. Trims overgrown/obstructive branches and promptly removes all cuttings and debris. Checks for and immediately removes garbage and debris from the outdoor areas including the lawn, parking lot, and other common areas. May perform custodial work including minor repairs and maintenance. May assist with event set-up/take-down including setting up tables, chairs, and other furniture or equipment. Performs other related duties as assigned. Operates a motor vehicle in a safe manner and in compliance with all Utah laws and regulations.

Education and Experience:
This is an entry level position. Related work experience is preferred but not required.

Special Qualifications:
Must be at least sixteen (16) years old. Must possess a valid Utah Driver License. Employees driving a personal vehicle while on county business must maintain the minimum vehicle liability insurance as specified in the Utah Code.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Basic knowledge of: gardening and maintenance tools and equipment; landscape maintenance; principles and practices of plant care; appropriate safety practices and techniques; maintenance policies and procedures. Skill in operating grounds maintenance tools and equipment including large gas-powered mowers, equipment and tools. This position may require the driving of a motor vehicle; skill in operating a motor vehicle in a safe manner; ability to insure motor vehicle is operating in a safe manner; knowledge of Utah motor vehicle rules and regulations. Ability to: a flexible schedule as assigned; operate maintenance equipment including riding mowers; lift, carry, and otherwise move objects weighting up to 50 lbs.; work in inclement weather conditions (including heat and cold); perform duties that require frequent walking, bending, squatting, lifting, stooping, kneeling; work in conditions that include excessive noise and vibration; follow written and oral instructions; communicate effectively with others; establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, other employees and the general public.

Important Information:
Davis County is a drug-free workplace. All successful applicants for positions in the County must successfully pass a drug screen prior to employment.   • Proof of Automobile Insurance
    Proof of current automobile insurance is required with application. Proof of insurance can be a photocopy of insurance card or policy. Proof of insurance must include the applicant's name, insurance company name, and current policy period.
