Do you arrive first at the scene and then relinquish medical care to another provider when they arrive?
›› All necessary care, including advanced life support, is provided by our deputy/paramedics from initial assessment until care is relinquished to hospital medical personnel.
Do you have an ambulance service?
›› We work with local fire departments that provide ambulance and basic life support services. When advance life support is required, we respond and ride in the ambulance to the hospital with the assistance of the firefighter EMTs.
Do you act as a paramedic one day and a deputy the next?
›› Each patrol deputy is cross trained as both a law enforcement deputy and a paramedic. They drive vehicles that are capable of holding all necessary equipment for both roles. We respond to both medical and law enforcement calls.
Are there two deputies in each vehicle?
›› Not typically. Usually each deputy drives in his/her own vehicle.
What does a Patrol Deputy do?
›› They respond to all types of calls and make traffic stops. They are responsible for cities contracted by the Sheriff's Office. The role is similar to that of a police officer, e.g., Federal (FBI, CIA, ATF), State (the Utah Highway Patrol), County (Sheriff’s Office) and City Police.
