Performs a variety of duties in coordinating activities related to promoting Davis County as a destination for leisure travel as well as groups coming in for Conventions and other large events. Intern may assist with Tourism event planning and coordination.
Example of Duties
Assists the Tourism Marketing Coordinator and Tourism Director in promoting Discover Davis, the Destination Marketing Organization (DMO) for Davis County Tourism and Events.
May assist in social media management for several events hosted by the County, perform website updates, engage in community partnerships and outreach, assist in compiling reports for various needs, and other duties related to destination marketing.
May represent Discover Davis at local festivals or other community events. Work extended flexible hours to attend events and other activities as needed.
Operates a motor vehicle in a safe manner and in compliance with all Utah laws and regulations. Performs related duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
Education and Experience:
Currently enrolled at an accredited college or university actively seeking a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in experience design, recreation or business management, marketing, parks and recreation, or a closely related field. Experience in marketing, advertising, graphic design, tourism or a directly related field is desired. Wordpress and email marketing experience is preferred.
Must furnish personal transportation for on-the-job driving.
Must possess a valid Utah Driver License.
Employees driving a personal vehicle while on county business must maintain the minimum vehicle liability insurance as specified in the Utah Code.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Basic knowledge of: concepts of public relations and marketing; event planning and coordination; community outreach.
Skill in: marketing, public relations and communication; operating common office equipment; using social media as a marketing tool; using applicable hardware and software including, but not limited to, MS Office, especially Excel and Google Suite. WordPress and email marketing experience preferred.
Ability to: prepare and organize materials; compile data and prepare written reports; effectively organize and prioritize activities and projects; work on multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines; identify and solve problems; maintain concentrated attention to detail; follow written and oral instructions; communicate effectively (orally and in writing); establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, other employees/departments, industry partners, other agencies, and the general public.
