Meet Our Team

Under the Direction of the Director of Animal Care the members of our management team are specifically responsible for different aspects of our community based organization.

Ashleigh Young - Director

Biography: If you love your job, there is no such thing as work, and when it comes to working with animals, there are few things Ashleigh loves more. Ashleigh has been working professionally in the animal field for the past 9 years and started as the Operations Manager at Animal Care of Davis County in June of 2020. She was promoted to Deputy Director in April of 2021 and to Director in October of 2021. She holds a bachelor's degree in Animal Science from Oregon State University, and is also Fear Free certified and an approved AKC Canine Good Citizen assessor as well.

Ashleigh currently has two dogs, a 4 year old English Springer Spaniel named Pepper, and a 1 1/2 year old Golden Doodle named Fisher. Ashleigh has trialed and trained in CPE agility, rally, obedience, and K9 Nose Work both personally and professionally. Ashleigh has many topics she is passionate about - she is an avid knitter, gardener, loves to bake, and is found hitting the trails most weekends with Pepper and Fisher.

Sydney Larrabee - Deputy Director

Biography:

Sydney has known that she wanted to work in the animal industry since age 14, when she decided she was going to become an Animal Control Officer. In high school, she completed an internship with Animal Care of Davis County. She was hired on in 2016 as a Shelter Technician, made her way up to Animal Control Officer, became the interim Adoption Specialist, and was then promoted to Shelter Services Supervisor in late 2019. Her promotion to Deputy Director followed in May of 2022.

Sydney has a bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice from Weber State University. When not at the shelter, she spends her time with her pit bull (adopted from ACDC in 2013) and kitties. She loves to surround herself with animals and is very dedicated to her position at ACDC.

Amparo Gutierrez - Shelter Services Supervisor

Biography:

Amparo has worked in the Animal Industry for over 13 years. Having had her start in the pet grooming field in 2007, she knew her professional life would always involve animals. 

Amparo was hired on to Animal Care of Davis County in 2022 as the Shelter Services Supervisor. 

When she is not at the shelter, Amparo spends her time with her two dogs, an 8-year old German Shepherd/Husky cross named Onyx, and a 4-month old Golden Retriever named Zeno. They love to hike and play in the water, so you will often find her camping in her home-away-from-home.
