Lakes and Streams
Water Resources Bureau staff coordinate with the Utah Division of Water Quality to establish and maintain standards to monitor and protect the recreational water bodies within the county. Water quality standards are defined by the
Clean Water Act. Bodies of water that exceed these standards are placed on the 303(d) list as either impaired or threatened.
Water Quality Specialists sample recreational waters monthly throughout the county. Water samples are collected and field tests are conducted at each site to verify that the set water quality standards are maintained. Environmental controls are put into place to prevent degradation of these resources when pollution levels exceed the standards.
