About Us

We currently serve as your elected Board of Davis County Commissioners. As set by state statute, we hold responsibilities for the executive and legislative powers, duties and functions of the county. We are charged with levying taxes, adopting ordinances and making policy for 300,000 + residents here in Davis County as it relates to county business.


Davis County is governed by a three-member elected Board of Commissioners, who serve four-year, overlapping terms. Commissioners have general oversight to ensure compliance with County rules, policies, and ordinances. Commissioners approve the adoption and amendment to the budget, they also serve as the legislative body, and the property tax Board of Equalization.

In addition, we meet bi-annually with each of the 15 city councils.

Rhett Nicks has accepted the position of Director to Animal Care and Control. Nicks has an extensive history of serving animals throughout the country. Davis County is pleased to offer the position to Nicks and looks forward to the value he will add to the shelter.

Commission Chair

Randy B. Elliott is a devoted husband, father, and successful business entrepreneur. Hailing from one of the original Davis County families, Randy has strong roots within the community.

For four generations, Randy’s family has farmed down from the lake in Farmington. Working alongside his father, he taught Randy the value of getting a job done right. From his early days of tending cows and farming in the fields, Randy learned lessons of hard work, persistence, patience, and integrity.
