Davis County Health Department is responsible for the surveillance of reportable diseases, the investigation and control of communicable diseases, and provision of educational materials and services to assist communities in reducing the incidence of communicable diseases.
The goal of epidemiology is to prevent and control the spread of communicable diseases in Davis County by:
- Conducting active and passive surveillance
- Monitoring the occurrence and severity of infectious diseases
- Identifying and controlling outbreaks through:
- Complete and timely investigations
- Interruption of disease transmission (i.e. isolation and quarantine)
- Administration of prophylactics (i.e. vaccinations, antibiotics)
- Education to prevent recurrence
