Current Conditions

Residents may receive information on current air quality conditions by visiting the Utah Division of Air Quality Action Forecast website, registering to receive email alerts from the Utah Division of Air Quality, downloading the Utah Air app on Android or iOS, or calling 801-536-0072. Please be aware that the burn indicators are represented by symbols and not colors (see table below for explanation).

Solid Fuel Burning

Solid fuel burning not only refers to the burning of wood, but to ALL solid fuels burned in fireplaces, wood stoves (both EPA certified and non-certified), pellet stoves, outdoor fireplaces or fire pits, charcoal grills, smokers, and coal burning stoves. Natural gas and propane stoves, however, are not considered solid fuel. Wood burning is restricted on Mandatory Action days and is discouraged on Voluntary Action days.

The Utah Division of Air Quality vigorously enforces no burn actions. Infrared cameras are used to detect heat plumes, and local health department staff members investigate all complaints. There are several options for reporting a solid fuel burning complaint. You may submit a complaint online by filling out a complaint form on our reporting webpage or the Utah Division of Air Quality’s reporting webpage, or by calling the Davis County Health Department at 801-525-5128. Emissions Testing

Vehicles registered in Davis County, less than six (6) years old, are required to have an emissions test once every two (2) years. Any vehicle older than six (6) years old, and that is model year 1968 or newer, must receive an emissions test yearly. Refer to the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) website to see the specific emissions testing schedule.

Vehicle Assistance Programs

The Vehicle Repair and Replacement Assistance Program (VRRAP) and Electric Vehicle Replacement Assistance Program (EVRAP) provide financial assistance toward the repair or replacement of vehicles that are unable to pass current emission standards. Utah Indoor Clean Air Act

The Utah Indoor Clean Air Act (UICAA) prohibits smoking or vaping in all enclosed indoor places that allow public access. It also prohibits smoking or vaping within 25 feet of the entrance, exit, or any open windows or vents of these places. It requires that these buildings display “No Smoking” signage that can be easily seen upon entry into the building. “No Smoking” signage is available from the Davis County Health Department.
