Becoming a Certified Davis County Emissions Technician

If you have a current Certified Emission Tester Permit in Salt Lake, Utah or Weber County, bring your current I/M Permit and $40 to the Davis County I/M Technical Center, Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:30 a.m.–4 p.m. Payment must be made with cash or check only—credit cards are not accepted. You will be issued a Self-Study Guide. After you have studied, come back during regular testing times and you will be given an open book test.

If you are not currently a Certified Emission Tester, you must meet our minimum requirements which are: two years post-high school tune-up or drivability education, two years tune-up or drivability experience, or a combination of both. If you meet the requirements, come to the Davis County I/M Technical Center, Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:30 a.m.–4 p.m. and purchase a $35 Self-Study Guide. After you have studied, come back during regular testing times and you will be given an open book test. A $25 permit fee will be required.

Tests are administered from the 5th day of each month (or the first business day following the 5th) through the 25th of each month (or the first business day preceding the 25th). Test times are from 8:30–11 a.m. or 1–3:30 p.m. of each eligible day.
