Collection: 159,708 items (as of December 2011)

The South Branch Library was opened in 1969. Originally, a senior citizen's center was located on the east side of the lower level. In 1977 the senior citizen's center moved. In 2000, the space was remodeled for use as a children's room. With the opening of the children's room in October 2000, the South Branch Library provides 24,000 square feet for public service, which includes on the lower level an auditorium which seats 250. The branch houses the largest collection in the Davis County System; almost 160,000 items. The Branch also offers a quiet study room and several tables with plug-ins for laptop computers to access wireless Internet. It is a popular place for individual study and exploration. The Branch has numerous programs for children including weekly story times, and hosts best-selling author events several times a year.
