The Corrections Division is a major component of the Sheriff's Office
and is staffed 24 hours a day. The jail has 776 beds and includes
a staff of Registered Nurses, Cooks, Maintenance Technicians, and
programs support staff both voluntary and non-voluntary.
Correctional Deputies are trained at the Fred F. House training academy
and certified through the state Peace Officers Standards and Training
(P.O.S.T.). The Corrections Division also manages a 120 bed Work
Release Facility adjacent to the main jail, these inmates are either
Work Release or Work Detail.
Both Civilian and Sworn staff are responsible for the receiving and
releasing of prisoners, also the safety, care, feeding, and housing of
those individuals who have been arrested or are incarcerated in the
county jail. The staff also provide for building security, inside
transportation of inmates, and inmate visiting services. The
Corrections Division also monitors inmate programs such as counseling
and education.
