State Waterfowl Management Areas
XVIII. Closed Areas (Proclamation)

A person may not hunt upland game in any area posted closed by the Division or any
of the following areas:
- Salt Lake International Airport
- Incorporated Municipalities
Most of the incorporated areas of Alta, a portion of Davis County, Garland City, Layton,
Logan, Pleasant View City, South Ogden City, West Jordan and West Valley City are closed to
the discharge of firearms. Check with the respective city officials for specific boundaries. Other
municipalities may have firearm restrictions.
- Wildlife Management Areas
- Waterfowl management areas are open for hunting upland game only during
designated waterfowl hunting seasons, including: Bear River National Wildlife Refuge,
Bicknell Bottoms, Blue Lake, Brown's Park, Clear Lake, Desert Lake, Farmington Bay,
Harold S. Crane, Howard Slough, Locomotive Springs, Mills Meadows, Ogden Bay, Ouray
National Wildlife Refuge, Powell Slough, Public Shooting Grounds, Salt Creek, Stewart
Lake and Timpie Springs.
- Fish Springs National Wildlife Refuge is closed to upland game hunting.
- Goshen Warm Springs is closed to upland game hunting.
- Military Installations: Military installations, including Camp Williams, are closed to
hunting and trespassing unless otherwise authorized.
A person may not possess a firearm or archery tackle, except during the specified waterfowl hunting
seasons or as authorized by DWR, on the following waterfowl management areas:
- Bicknell Bottoms
- Browns Park
- Clear Lake
- Desert Lake
- Farmington Bay
- Harold S. Crane
- Howard Slough
- Locomotive Springs
- Mills Meadows
- Ogden Bay
- Powell Slough
- Public Shooting Grounds
- Salt Creek
- Stewart Lake
- Timpie Springs

Farmington Bay Waterfowl Management Area Access

Farmington Bay offers access for airboats and outboards, canoes and walk-in hunting. The area boasts
some of the most diverse waterfowling in Utah. Open for viewing year round 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
seven days a week at the main entrance south and west of Farmington. Open during waterfowl season
for hunting. All rules, regulations and laws regarding hunting, according to the current proclamation
apply.
North entrance to Goose Egg Island
- Open year round (8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.)
Unit 1 dike to Turpin parking lot
- Open Sep. 25 to Feb. 28 to motorized vehicles
- Open year round to foot and bicycle
South and east entrances (to parking lot)
- Open Sep. 25 to Jan. 14 to motorized vehicles
- Open Jan. 15 to Feb. 28 to foot and bicycle
- Closed March 1 to July 31
- Open Aug. 1 to Sep. 24 to foot and bicycle
Other dikes and roads
- Open to foot and bicycle Aug. 1 to Feb. 28
- Closed March 1 to July 31
- Closed year round to motorized vehicles
Special regulations
Dogs are welcome from September 25 through February 28. Please stay on dikes and roads from
March 1 to September 25 to reduce disturbance to wildlife. Boating is allowed two weeks prior
to the waterfowl season (starting about September 25). Firearms allowed only during waterfowl
hunting season.
